The French team had a big scare in the round of 16 against Belgium but ended up winning at the end of regulation time (1-0) to qualify for the quarter-finals. Discover the RMC Sport ratings of the Blues.

Mike Maignan: 8

Good exit in the 6th minute of play to cut the ball deep towards Openda. Decisive on De Bruyne’s shot in the 83rd. His save allows the Blues to stay in the match.

Jules Koundé: 5

As often since the start of the tournament, he proved to be strong defensively and technically accurate. In his corridor, Jérémy Doku did not stand out much.

Dayot Upamecano: 6

Caught off guard by Openda in the 27th, fortunately without consequences. He was serious afterwards.

William Saliba: 7

Very nice intervention in the 39th which allows to stop a Belgian counter. Overall clean. Won his duel against Lukaku, never really dangerous.

Theo Hernandez: 6

Author of a saving tackle in the 61st minute which undoubtedly prevented Carrasco from scoring.

Aurélien Tchouaméni: 7 ⭐

Launch pad for the French team, his long game was perfect. Beautiful strike in the 40th minute that went just wide. Unlucky, in the 45th minute of play with a strike well above the Belgian goal. He mastered his subject and would have deserved to score.

N’Golo Canté:

Less influential than usual, he touched less of the ball. But he remains interesting in his choice of passes to try to make a difference.

Adrien Rabiot: 3

His worst match since the start of the Euro. Not inspired in his choices, he lost almost 8 duels out of 10. His foul on Doku (22nd) earned him a logical yellow card which suspended him for the quarters.

Antoine Griezmann: 2 ❌

A shipwreck. Locked in the right corridor, he lost a lot of balls. Many bad choices. No speed, no pep and a lack of confidence glaring in all his gestures. He looked like a child on the pitch. The very dark shadow of the legend of the Blues that he is.

Kylian Mbappé: 4

Quite transparent at the start of the match. He tried several times to find solutions with Théo Hernandez. His hard work in the 44th brought the biggest opportunity of the first period. But doesn’t make enough of a difference with the ball. Too many shots off target.

Marcus Thuram: 3

A good header unfortunately off target (33rd) on a cross from Koundé and that’s about it. Opportunities but waste and no sense of goal. Old Vertonghen was pretty calm in his marking.

Didier Deschamps: 4

Got almost everything wrong. His 4-3-3 system with Griezmann on the right brought nothing and made Griezmann the worst in a very long time. He persists with an inconclusive choice by aligning Thuram. Only one change (Kolo Muani) but it paid off despite some success from the Parisian striker on his goal.
