Blois Criminal Court

On May 30, in the middle of the afternoon, the Blois police were alerted that a man had broken into a building on Rue du Puits-Châtel. When they arrived at the squatted apartment, they found a bag with several items reported stolen, including inside a vehicle; the wanted man was in a neighboring apartment, which he had entered through another window. “I am homeless, I first wanted to take shelter in an uninhabited apartment; then I saw the other apartment, and I went there to take a shower”, he explains to the president of the court, Alexis Mihman.

Car theft not recognized

The 45-year-old man admits to part of the thefts. Except the theft from the trailer, claiming to have found the bag on the ground. The court thus reclassifies the facts as concealment, the individual being unable to ignore that the bag did not belong to him.

In addition to the charges of prevention, there are also insults uttered against a police officer at the police station.

The forty-year-old has twelve convictions on his record, including for theft and insults. He has already received psychological support and sometimes makes incoherent speeches, and even vehemently against the judicial system.

Public prosecutor Charlotte Beluet is requesting 30 months in prison, twelve of which are suspended with probation. “It’s been 25 years since he got into delinquency”she emphasizes, emphasizing her precarious situation.

In defense, Me Sarah Lévêque points out her client’s psychological concerns and asks for more leniency.

The court finally sentenced the man to 24 months in prison, twelve of which were suspended on probation, with the obligation to look for work and receive treatment. He will also have to pay €150 to the outraged police officer.
