“You know, at festivals, people push each other in front. I almost fell and I held on to him as I fell.” In the immediate appearance box, this Monday 1is July, at the Nantes court, the 48-year-old man struggled to convince the magistrates. His version had not convinced the police either, who arrested him on Friday, June 28, on the Hellfest site, in Clisson.

He is appearing for two attempted robberies with violence. The events occurred between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. The first victim was this festival-goer whom he threw to the ground by snatching his fanny pack. He twisted his thumb, which earned the victim a trip to hospital, where he was taken to the hand clinic and prescribed 120 days of ITT. The suspect did not succeed: there was only a packet of cigarettes in the fanny pack.

The second victim had his wallet stolen. “Several people saw the scene and asked the victim if it was normal for him to take it,” reports the presiding judge. The forty-year-old literally tore off his jacket pocket without him realising it. His action was interrupted by the intervention of witnesses, who “immobilized” the suspect and handed him over to the police. The thief tried to struggle by kicking, punching and spitting.

“He came to steal from festival-goers who have their guard down”

The man, who lives in Romania, admits to the violence but denies any intention to steal. “I came to the area on vacation. I wanted to have fun, there was a group I liked. » He is also struggling to convince people about this. He didn’t have a bracelet around his wrist, so no one really knows how he managed to get in.

“A witness recognized you and said he saw you trying to rob festival-goers around 3 or 4 p.m. continues the president. You were seen opening a satchel.” False, the defendant retorts: “I took the Nantes-Clisson train around 8 p.m. » A version that does not fit with the boundaries of your cell phone.

“He came to steal from festival-goers who have their guard down,” scolds the prosecutor. A witness also said he saw him throw several phones on the ground when he was overpowered.

The defendant receives five months in prison. He was incarcerated. He will have to compensate the two victims to the tune of €2,000 and €640.
