In a decision recently made public, the Orléans court confirmed the dismissal of the former director of technical services for the municipality of Veigné (Indre-et-). In fact, the latter had contested the decision taken by his superiors, who had chosen to shorten his fixed-term contract. The contract worker was caught using the city's fuel card for personal purposes, the site reports Actu.fr.

The career of this young 23-year-old civil servant had nevertheless started well. Employed as a research manager at the town hall of Veigné in 2019, he moved a few weeks later to the position of administrative director of technical services, with around twenty agents under his direction. Unfortunately, in May 2022, this beautiful trajectory came to a screeching halt following an interview with the mayor.

His personal bank card was blocked

The councilor criticized his director for having used the town hall's fuel card for his personal vehicle. But that's not all. The young man had transmitted the municipal building code to many people outside the services. Furthermore, the missions assigned were not carried out and there were numerous delays and unjustified absences. Grievances which had earned the principal concerned dismissal without notice or compensation.

A disproportionate sanction, even an abuse of power on the part of the mayor, according to the official. The latter justified the payments by claiming that his personal card was blocked and that he would have reimbursed the amounts used. However, he will never notify his superiors. The court thus confirmed that this fault alone was sufficient to justify his dismissal. The man has until December 8 to appeal.
