If the coastal fringe of the town remained faithful to the vote for the National Rally, elsewhere in town, the deputy Aurélien Lopez-Liguori also managed to bring together voters. Until finishing in the lead in the twenty-eight polling stations in the town.

How far away they seemed, on Sunday evening, from the electoral meetings which ignited the city on election nights, whether municipal or legislative. In the Guillemin room, which usually hosts municipal council meetings, there were in fact barely more than five or six observers watching for the arrival of Mayor Sébastien Frey, to formalize the results of a first round which did not will not call a second. Mostly supporters of the National Rally, who obviously did not hide their satisfaction with the figures recorded in Agde by their candidate, Aurélien Lopez-Liguori.

In the heart of the city, the RN is no longer scary

Two years ago, the latter had already come out on top locally with 37.58%, in a first round with eleven candidates. We remember that in the second, with 69.82%, he had dominated Gabriel Blasco (PC-Nupes), credited with 30.18%. This time, the figures are even more flattering for the deputy of the 7th constituency, who obtained 58.68% of the votes on Sunday. With scores that were certainly disparate depending on the polling stations, but one constant: he finished first in each of them, including in a city center that has historically been left-leaning for ages.

Thus, the RN candidate obtained 53.57% of the votes at the Jean-Moulin school, 52.67% at the Jules-Ferry school, 52.64% at the town center house, for a “small” 45.41% at the Anatole-France school, its worst total. Scores unimaginable even ten years ago.

66.08% at the Lucie-Mathieu crèche!

But it was between the historic centre and Cap d’Agde that Aurélien Lopez-Liguori achieved his best score, with 66.08% in the office of the Lucie-Mathieu nursery, in the Loubatières high school district! Not far from there, at the Frédéric Bazille school, the MP obtained 63.90% of the votes. And then there is the coastal fringe of Agde. And his office number 2 of the Palais des Congrès, where Lopez-Liguori reached 64.62%, followed closely by office 2 of the Littoral school (62.20%) and the Jules-Verne school (61.80%).

Figures that remind us, if need be, of the party’s strong roots in the city. And less than two years before the municipal elections, with all the legal turmoil that the town has just experienced – the investigation is ongoing – the situation is certainly being closely monitored by the municipal majority. And in the RN camp, intoxicated by these results on Sunday evening, there was no hiding the fact that the next objective was indeed the town hall of Agde.
