On June 27, on the occasion of the last municipal council, before the summer, the collective surrounded the town hall and symbolically closed the city for fifteen minutes. Objective: denounce the urban project led by the executive.
The Collective of Defenders of Lyon is not giving up. Unrelated to the national political context, the association organized, on June 27 (the day planned before the dissolution of the National Assembly, editor’s note), the symbolic encirclement of the Lyon City Hall, during the last municipal council before the summer period. The association always denounces urban planning projects carried out by the majority and in this sense denounces the lack of total dialogue between the two parties.
In a press release, the Collective of Defenders of Lyon reiterates its demands:
An immediate suspension of all work about to begin in Lyon,
a meeting between elected officials from the Town Hall and the Metropolis of Lyon and the representatives of this large collective to hear the requests expressed and the common appeal with the following messages:
NON :
to a complete pedestrianization of the Lyon peninsula or other districts
to the total ban on vehicles on the peninsula
OUI :
- to a real improvement in the quality of life
- to the freedom to move around the city in safety, whatever your mode of mobility
- to partial pedestrianization, but not without consultation, without impact study, without taking into account the daily life of all the inhabitants and users of the city
- to a real peaceful consultation spread over time
- to coherent and city-adapted developments: adapted public transport in
near and in the city centre, easy access to car parks and parking spaces, delivery spaces, operations with free parking rates to make the commercial offer attractive again, experiments in agreement with local residents and traders, new home delivery solutions, etc.
Other demonstrations and actions could be organized during the summer.
