This new name is the merger of Toshiba Tecet Ricoh, two Japanese entities which have decided to combine their factories. “A dual strategy in a competitive world,” he adds. Both bring together the means and the manufacturing. But also to maintain, in Japan, mastery of technology.”

Indeed, during his inauguration speech, Monday 1is July 2024, Alain Verna recalled the danger that the Chinese represent since the country’s entry into the World Trade Organization, in 2001. “We resisted,” smiles the CEO. “By developing service activities for example.”

One factory in France, the other in England

As a reminder, in Dieppe, Toshiba manufactures toner ink but also offers individualized assembly, at customer request, of multifunction photocopiers, point-of-sale terminals, printers, screens, scanners, laptops, kiosks, digital terminals …

220 employees in Martin-Église

“Etria is 85% Ricoh and 15% Toshiba Tec,” he continues. In Martin-Église, 220 employees work there, and 40 temporary workers for a turnover of 32 million euros. “We sell 2/3 for the European market and 1/3 for China.”

For now, only the name change will be visible to the people of Dieppe. The activities will continue while developing some such as the reconditioning and refilling of ink cartridges in an environmental approach.

“An Etria range will be offered in 2026,” says Alain Verna.
