It was back to school this Monday, July 1st for the CAPD players, the rugby club of PérigueuxAround fifty old and new players, as well as hopefuls, took part in a “bronco” session, a sort of particularly demanding physical fitness test. “It’s the back-to-school punishment”jokes Vincent Feuillade, who is starting his fifth season in the sky and white jersey. For this versatile player who can play both in the center and on the wing,“The bronco is a physical test that allows you to see a little of the ability to be able to repeat tasks”, he explains. “You have to start running, do zero meters, go to 22, come back to zero, go back to 40 meters, come back to zero, go back to 60 and do that five times without stopping as quickly as possible.”

A first day which also allows players to discover themselves, the workforce having evolved during the off-season. “Between young and old, there must be around fifteen departures for around fifteen arrivals.”calculates Didier Casadéi, the Capiste coach. “We have kept exactly the same payroll as last season.” A squad that the coach now considers to be complete.

This intense physical preparation program will last two weeks. It will be followed by a week of regeneration before starting a series of three friendly matches which will precede the championship. “We know that like last year, there will be fourteen league matches before Christmas.”warns Didier Casadéi. “If we want to stay up, we need to win matches quickly. And then if we want to aim a little higher, we need to perform well during this period where there will be a lot of matches with very few weeks of recovery.”
