For Canada Day, several events are planned in different places in Winnipeg. Here is a list of places to celebrate in the city.

Bridgewater: Celebrations brought forward

While Monday promises to be rainy, the Winnipeg Chinese Senior Association moved up its Canada Day festivities by one day to fully celebrate on a sunny day.

It is in the district of Bridgewater The celebrations were launched on Sunday with the singing of the Canadian national anthem in unison.

More than 5,000 people took advantage of a range of activities on the menu, according to the president of the association, Yen Giang.

For this third year, the organization has added something new to the menu: lion dancing. There were also face painting activities for children.

Zaynab Al-Yousif is attending the event for the second time and believes it serves as a platform to admire Winnipeg’s diversity.

It’s really nice to see people of different colours, sizes, shapes, religions and backgrounds coming together to celebrate as Canadians. she explains.

Moreover, for Ruhma Ali, who arrived from Pakistan less than a month ago, the event is an opportunity to learn more about the culture of Canada and the people here.

It’s a wonderful experience that I enjoy. It’s a real melting pot of cultures. I am really impressed by the diversity and openness of the people present and it is an extremely good experienceshe says.

While the children were treated to face painting and twisted balloons, the adults enjoyed the craft markets. Everyone was treated to food from here and elsewhere from the various food trucks present.

The fork

At La Fourche, participants are invited to join the party in order to gather, dance and play. Many of the activities on the program will be free. Among other things, shows will be offered as well as creative cultural programs.

The festivities will also feature a basketball final, a dunk contest and a special visit from the Sea Bears the Winnipeg.

According to a press release, the whole thing will be carried by musical performances by local artists, to mark Canada Day in a more intentional way, from the perspective of reconciliation .

Stade Princess Auto

Finally, at the Princess Auto Stadium, an unprecedented celebration will be organized in association with the Winnipeg Football Club.

The celebration will kick off at noon on the pre-match stage, with cultural performances and live music.

Within the stadium grounds, there should be a local artisan market, a variety of food trucks and family activities.

For children, face painting activities and inflatable structures will be offered.

Starting at 3 p.m., the main stage inside the stadium will light up with music from local artists including Brandi Vezina, Neighbour AndyCatie St. Germain et Indian City.

The organizers hope that it will be a first in a long series .

Osborne Village et parc Assiniboine

In Osborne VillageCanada Day fun will be held at the Bell Tower from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will include free public concerts, storytellers, circus performances and giant sidewalk games for all.

Assiniboine Park will continue to put family in the spotlight and should be lined with inflatable games, food trucks, education and a winter solstice market.
