The municipalities of Cherveux and Saint-Christophe sur Roc have organized, for the first time, the “Plan d’Olympique”, sporting events to be competed in teams, coupled with the Fête de la Musique this Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Mini-golf, canoeing, archery: timed events

Having been labelled Terres de jeux for four years and the Olympic Games oblige, the towns of Cherveux and Saint-Christophe-sur-Roc have taken on the challenge of transforming the body of water into a venue for sporting events, orchestrated by Lucie Millet and Cédric Guillard of the Cherveux sports commission. The twelve competing teams had to validate ten events. These were also timed. For around two hours, the competitors competed in mini-golf, canoeing, archery and even run and bike, among other things. “The participants all had fun and played the game well in the hobby horse event,” indicates Cédric Guillard who then proceeded to award prizes according to the ranking.

It is a successful bet for the two municipalities which were nevertheless expecting more teams. “This is an event that we will perhaps perpetuate by also offering people from other municipalities the opportunity to register. It is an idea that is being studied,” underlines Marie-Pierre Missioux, mayor. This afternoon of games continued with the Plan d’O festival. The groups Tête de Ouf and Fortunate Swamp made the 600 people present dance to celebrate the music. A beautiful evening around this body of water which is gradually transforming.

Indeed, the elected representative of Cherveux mentioned the latest developments carried out. “The beach has just been equipped with sand from the island of Oléron, children’s games have been installed, containers are also in place and will accommodate the toilets and the lifeguard room. On the other hand, for the grassy part, you will have to wait until next year to be able to stroll in the shade of the trees. » Yves Attou, the mayor of Saint-Christophe-sur-Roc, adds: “We move forward with patience and stubbornness. The site is becoming more beautiful. »
