On February 11, the mayor of Bonac-Irazein (Ariège), Nadine Neny, and another person whose identity has not been revealed, will appear before the Foix court for illegal taking of interests and concealment of illegal taking of interests.

It was after a long investigation opened in October 2022 that these two people were implicated, according to information from The Dispatch. Indeed, two and a half years ago, the Anticor association, which works for ethics in politics and against all forms of corruption, sent a report to the public prosecutor of Foix.

5 years of imprisonment and 75,000 euros fine

According to this association, it all started when Nadine Neny's ex-husband was hired in the summer of 2016, as “heritage technical advisor – project manager – trainer”. Position for which he is paid until the end of his contract in March 2021, as a category A engineer (highest grade in the public service). However, in addition to his 24-hour-a-week contract, the ex-husband of the elected official also received orders in the company he managed at the time, for the work on a municipal building.

Although the last point does not really attract the attention of the courts, the two accused will still have to answer criminally for a conflict between public interest and private interest, arising from a family link. For this offense, the mayor of Bonac-Irazein and the other person face a maximum penalty of 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros. They also risk additional penalties of ineligibility and a ban on practicing. Our colleagues finally point out that the Anticor association could become a civil party to the trial. Contacted by The DispatchNadine Neny did not follow up.
