Active in the summer transfer window thanks to departures, the Stade Rennais should launch maneuvers in the direction of arrivals in the coming days. Targeted as the main axis to be strengthened, the defensive sector will be reinforced, and a first name is associated with the last tenth of Ligue 1.

Stade Rennais has been one of the most active Ligue 1 clubs since the start of the transfer window. After changing behind the scenes with the arrival of Frédéric Massara as sports director, the Rennais are especially enterprising in the direction of departures. Bélocian (Bayer Leverkusen) and Rieder (Stuttgart) have already signed in the Bundesliga and Matthis Abline will soon be made official in Nantes, which corresponds to a desire to downsize on the Rennes side which will not play in the European Cup next year. Despite everything, the Bretons want to strengthen their defensive sector which was lacking last season, and which could be further reduced with departures this summer. Indeed, rumors of transfers around Arthur Theate and Adrien Truffert exist and may lead the Rouge et Noir board to be very attentive to market opportunities in defense.

Glen Kamara in Rennes’ sights

Another sector is targeted by the Rennais: the defensive midfielder. Amputated by Matic following his departure this winter for Olympique Lyonnais, replaced by Matusiwa who was not really unanimous, Stade Rennais is looking for a player capable of stabilizing the Bretons midfield. This is why the managers would have targeted the Finnish international (59 caps) Glen Kamara during the summer transfer window according to the Team. This defensive box-to-box midfielder participated in 40 matches this season with Leeds in the Championship, who failed in the Premier League promotion final. At 28 years old, Glen Kamara is a name that has come up regularly during the latest Rennes transfer window rumors, and could numerically take the place of Fabian Rieder on loan with an option to buy in Stuttgart.

Valued at 6 million euros, Kamara could launch the Stade Rennais summer transfer window in the direction of arrivals, which will be focused on defense, and more particularly on central defense.
