“Sense of responsibility”, LFI dissident Raquel Garrido ready to withdraw

Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s ears must be ringing. The LFI dissidents did better than the officials and things are grating for the withdrawals. “Logic would dictate that the second on the left withdraws, I am ready,” declared Raquel Garrido on TF1.

The outgoing MP (dissident LFI) from the 5th constituency of Seine-Saint-Denis came third in the first round of the legislative elections behind the candidate nominated by LFI and the UDI candidate. This Monday, she said she was ready to withdraw citing “a sense of responsibility”.

Arrived behind

In this constituency, which includes the towns of Bobigny, Le Bourget and Drancy, the quarrels within La France Insoumise and the dissident candidacy of Raquel Garrido have led to two left-wing candidates claiming to be members of the New Popular Front.

“I ask that everyone have a sense of responsibility,” she added, citing Sabrina Ali Benali (7th constituency of Seine-Saint-Denis), Allan Popelard (5th of Bouches-du-Rhône, three-way in the second round) and Céline Verzeletti (15th of Paris).

These three rebel candidates arrived behind three dissident rebels, Alexis Corbière, Hendrick Davi and Danielle Simonnet, outgoing deputies who were not re-elected by LFI because they were critical of the management.

“Fratricidal wars must stop”

In 2022, the rebellious Raquel Garrido put an end to twenty years of deputation of Jean-Christophe Lagarde, former president of the UDI, ineligible until 2024 due to a conviction.

The rebellious MP Clémentine Autain, also very critical of the movement’s leadership, said on the social network X that she was “dismayed to have to take time to ask the LFI leadership not to maintain her candidacies” in the face of three of her “purged” comrades.

“I understand that Jean-Luc Mélenchon and the LFI leadership are bitter about their failure, but I call for responsibility,” emphasizes Clémentine Autain, re-elected Sunday in the first round in her Paris constituency. “The fratricidal wars must stop. All our forces must be put this week against the RN and to make the NFP win in the country.”

The case of Hendrick Davi

She particularly highlights the case of Hendrik Davi in the 5th constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône in Marseille. “As crazy as it may seem, Allan Popelard, supported by the LFI leadership and having come in 3rd position, is asking Hendrik Davi to step down,” Clémentine Autain is surprised.

And to ask: “The rule stated yesterday evening by Jean-Luc Mélenchon of withdrawing when you are 3rd and there is an RN in the lead would apply to the Macronists but not to my friend Hendrik Davi?”
