Record turnout for the 8the constituency (67.14%) was more than favorable to him: the lawyer came out on top in 64 out of 65 municipalities.
The victory was all the more overwhelming in forty-one of them, which gave him more than 50% of the votes. Including in Draguignan, the mother city of the territory (he obtained 53.24%).
The union of the left surprises the right
Sarah Breffy is disappointed by this absolute majority, which means she loses a second round. The NFP candidate only received 20.09% of the vote, although the presence of Ludovic Martin (LO) did not hinder her surprising rise (1.27%). She came in second place, something that had not happened since 2012 (Bernard Clap represented the PS at the time, Editor’s note).
The lawyer is certain: there is hope for the future. The results of the union of the left have completely taken the breath away from the Gaullist right, which did not expect such a sidelining. Frank Panizzi (LR) has visibly suffered from the Ciotti-RN alliance. The mayor of Pontevès won fourth place in the constituency… and second in his own commune, which was more seduced by Philippe Schreck.
Times are just as hard for the Macronist party, which has not managed to form a bloc with the coalitions of the extremists.
Rayann Mouslim (Ensemble) is thus satisfied with third place, with 15.84% of the votes. A real blow, as the party rose to second position in many municipalities during the European elections, and Fabien Matras (LaREM) won, here, against the National Rally in 2017.
Where did Francis Combe go?
This first round was also marked by the astonishing absence of a candidate: Francis Combe. The one who presents himself as the founding president of the BHVie party (Happiness, Honor, Truth: An Extraordinary Ideal) (1), did not manage to win the heart of a single voter. Not even in Montauroux, the town where he lives! A way to enter local history…
