2013 Urban Pole Vault Masters
Pole vaulting will be in the spotlight for three days in Épinal with the return of the Meeting Perch’Stacul’Air, from July 3 to 5, on the Edmond Henry and de l’Âtre squares, near the basilica. This event is part of the “Épinal Terre de Jeux 2024” initiative.
This week, pole vaulting will be highlighted during the Perch’Stacul’Air. The festivities will begin with introductory pole vaulting sessions for schools and community centers. Organized by the Kid Stadium of the Vosges Athletics Committee, these sessions will offer young people a unique chance to discover this impressive discipline.
On Thursday July 4 at 6:30 p.m., Clermont-based pole vaulter Baptiste Boirie promises to amaze the public by catapulting himself into the air with the help of an electric skateboard, guaranteeing a spectacular and unique performance.
Friday, July 5 will be dedicated to the competition. At 2 p.m., a regional competition in tribute to Matéo Bulet will open the festivities, followed at 6 p.m. by a national competition bringing together the best French athletes. This day is particularly symbolic, as it falls exactly one month before the men’s final of the Paris Olympic Games.
This edition will also mark the 20th anniversary of the Meeting, which began on March 13, 2004 at the Halle des Sports with the presence of Olympic champion Jean Galfione.
Alongside the competitions, an Olympic and Paralympic village will be set up, offering various workshops and activities: athletic initiations, parasport activities, selfie terminal with the mascots of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and stands offering the possibility of winning places for these Games. . The village will be located at the foot of the Basilica of Saint-Maurice in Épinal, adding a unique dimension to this sporting event.
