The inhabitants of the municipalities where the motorway network was to be improved, generally, did not want the work. The Geneva-Nyon section is perhaps the one that has divided local residents the most.
The Geneva municipalities have all rejected the extension project, including the enclave of Céligny. These votes are therefore consistent with those of the entire canton, which said no at 57%.
Conversely, most of the Vaud municipalities accepted the object, against the opinion of the majority of the canton (59% no). With one notable exception: Nyon overwhelmingly rejected the project, with six out of ten residents refusing it. The vote is opposite in Chavannes-des-Bois, the most enthusiastic of the municipalities concerned.

75% de non en ville de Berne
The situation is clearer in the canton of Bern. Nine of the twelve localities on the route rejected the development of motorway lanes. Including their neighbors, only six municipalities out of 22 municipalities were in favor.
In the capital, three out of four voters said no. These results mirror those of the canton, which recorded 57% unfavorable opinions.

Basel at odds with its neighbors
In the canton of Basel, a clearer division appears: the inhabitants closest to the planned work did not want it. In the city of Basel, the no rate reaches 60%. On the other hand, citizens who were not directly in the construction zones were rather favorable.
The phenomenon echoes the results at the cantonal level. Basel-City rejected the object by 56%, while Basel-Landschaft accepted it by 54%.

Schaffhausen too
This divide is also found in Schaffhausen. The capital of the canton refused the planned developments, by 56%. Conversely, almost all of its neighbors had adopted them, like the canton, which supported the project.
