Impressionist painters, Cathars, “Artists and peasants”, troubadours will meet you this summer.

The event of the year in Toulouse was the reopening of the Bemberg Foundation in the magnificent Hôtel d’Assézat, after three years of work and closure. Now, this private museum, which we owe to Georges Bemberg who installed his collections there, is more accessible and the museography has evolved considerably. We discover in a new staging works by Veronese, Titian, Tintoretto, enamels and timepieces. The second floor is that of modern painters with Gauguin, Van Dongen, Klee, Dufy. Furthermore, the museum displays around thirty works by the painter Pierre Bonnard, the most important collection after that of the Canet museum.

Until August 25, the Musée des Abattoirs is offering an exhibition on the theme “Artists & farmers, beating the countryside”. Nearly 150 works highlight the meeting points between art and agriculture, in light of the challenges facing agriculture today. This will be an opportunity to see works by Jean-François Millet, Rosa Bonheur or Jules Breton, or more recently Agnès Varda, Gianfranco Baruchello…

During the same period, the Abattoirs also offered an exhibition “Woman, life, freedom” in support of the Iranian people.

The Jacobins convent and the Saint-Raymond museum have joined forces to offer a unique exhibition on the Cathars until January 2025.

It presents the events and twists and turns that punctuated the crusade against the “Albigensians”, but also the question of the “Cathar” heresy. Nearly 300 objects are exhibited in the two sites: archival documents, archaeological objects, sculpted or painted works, historical reconstruction of costumes, weapons. Sound, digital, interactive animations complete the visit (Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (05 61 22 31 44)

And to understand everything about the history of literature in Toulouse, the Library of Study and Heritage, rue du Périgord, is offering an exhibition until July 13 on the theme “Troubadours, langue d’oc, and Floral Games. ” .
