Beaune Museum of Fine Arts – Activities for this month of July

To celebrate the passage of the Olympic Flame through its territory on Friday July 12, the city’s Museum of Fine Arts is adorned with the colors of Olympicism with an exhibition entitled “Legends of Sport, the Passion of Movement”. Labeled by the organization of the Paris 2024 Games as part of the National Cultural Olympiad, this interactive and fun exhibition will immerse visitors in the fascinating world of sport through the ages.
Until November 4, the museum offers a total immersion in the history of sport. From Antiquity to Modern Times, the exhibition explores the link between sport and art, highlighting artists’ fascination with sporting movements throughout the centuries. The innovative work of artists like Eadweard Muybridge and Étienne-Jules Marey has inspired contemporary creators whose works are featured, such as those of Alexandra Allard, Michel Hans, and Vladimir Velickovic.
The exhibition also pays tribute to seven local figures from the Pays Beaunois who left their mark on the Olympic Games. Portraits of personalities such as Albert Corey, silver medalist at the 1904 Games, and Léna Grandveau, handball revelation in 2024, are presented, testifying to the impact of these athletes on the international scene.
