Arriving third behind the RN and NFP candidates in the first round of the legislative elections in the first constituency of Marseille, Minister Sabrina Agresti-Roubache has decided to withdraw.

The Secretary of State for the city Sabrina Agresti-Roubache is retiring to Marseille, in the 1st constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône. In the first round of the legislative elections, the Renaissance candidate came in third position with 23.6% of the votes cast, far behind the National Rally candidate Monique Griseti (45.5%), and more than three points behind the candidate of the New Popular Front Pascaline Lécorché (26.9%).

While a three-way race was possible, the outgoing MP decided to withdraw to block the RN. “The score is final, not a single vote should go to the National Rally,” she declared.

Before her withdrawal, the minister’s defeat was a shock to her supporters. “It’s a shock, it’s the shock of the RN. This percentage is not possible for Marseille and France,” Sabrina laments on RMC.

“Emmanuel Macron’s personality has not been understood”

What Michèle sees in this defeat is not so much that of her candidate but rather the rejection of the President of the Republic. “Unfortunately, Emmanuel Macron’s personality was not understood and accepted, and that played a big part in it,” she believes.

In the absence of Sabrina Agresti-Roubache, Michèle will not hesitate in the second round: “In any case, I will do everything so that the National Rally is not there and I will encourage people to do the same.”

Hamza, a student (23 years old), is also knocked out, but there are choices he cannot bring himself to make: “I am a little lost. The Popular Front or the RN, I don’t want to vote for either one so I think I will abstain.”

Towards a meeting with the NFP candidate?

Sabrina Agresti-Roubache intends not to give any votes to the RN. A decision in line with the wishes of the executive, while Gabriel Attal considered that “not a single vote” should “go to the National Rally”. “Our objective is to prevent the RN from having an absolute majority”, called the Prime Minister on Sunday evening from the courtyard of Matignon.

In the first constituency of Marseille, Sabrina Agresti-Roubache must meet the candidate of the New Popular Front Pascaline Lécorché before the second round of the legislative elections, with perhaps an agreement at stake.
