Outgoing Renaissance MP Gilles Le Gendre qualified on Sunday June 30 for the second round of legislative elections in the 2e constituency of Paris but only came in third position, behind the candidate of the Socialist Party (PS) and a close friend of Minister Rachida Dati, under the Ensemble banner.

Socialist Marine Rosset thus came out on top with 33.40% of the vote. In second place, Jean Laussucq, close to Rachida Dati, whose deputy mayor of the 7th arrondissement he ise arrondissement of Paris, collected 23.62% of the votes.

Credited with 19.62% of the votes, Mr. Le Gendre, who was not reinvested by the presidential party, can remain in the second round. Questioned by Agence France-Presse, he said that maintaining his candidacy was “a serious hypothesis” but that his decision was not “not taken”.

A historic Macronist, Gilles Le Gendre believes he has ” paid [sa] freedom of speech “in particular for having voted against the “immigration” law and criticizing the “verticality” of Macronian power.

The loss of this constituency to the left would be damaging for Rachida Dati, recently joined the presidential camp and who is counting on an alliance between the latter and the right to win the town hall in 2026.
