The deadline is approaching for the delivery of the new Guadeloupe University Hospital, expected in the first quarter of 2025. Construction is progressing on the Belle Plaine site, in . The parent-child center is the first service which should move to the new establishment. The building is almost ready.

In the heart of the Abyssian countryside, the Parent-Child Center is experiencing its last moments at Palais Royal before moving to the Belle Plaine site. Around Professor Janky, the department head, the teams are preparing the changeover.

The first meetings and the dry run began. Staff are invited to discover the new premises to quickly get to grips with it all.

Professor Eustase Janky, head of department of the Parent-Child Center

This is not the first move for the pole. Temporarily installed in 2021 on the Palais Royal site, following the fire, it includes six services distributed across three sites. As the big departure approaches, caregivers are torn between excitement and worry.

It's true that we will have to adapt to a site that is completely different but after all, it's a good team so it should go well.

Marie-Laurence Paquet, nurse

Delivery is approaching. The future parent-child center is located at the entrance to the new CHU on 15,000 m2. The building looks great, modern and functional. Two floors house all the pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, neonatal medicine and also sickle cell anemia and genetics departments with a department dedicated to assisted maternal procreation (MAP).

Everything is grouped together. Attached to the building, a footbridge provides access to critical care, a new center which will have 127 designer rooms of 15 m2. The rooms are equipped with a shower room. In 60% of cases, these are single-bed rooms. The treatment rooms have a pneumatic transport service connected directly to the laboratory, the pharmacy and the French Blood Establishment (EFS). A true innovation.

The move of the parent-child center is scheduled for next May… If the schedule is respected.
