Haut-Rhin. Burglar, confused by handprint, sentenced to five months in prison

A 50-year-old German man was sentenced to five months in prison by the criminal court of (Haut-Rhin), this Thursday, November 21, for a burglary committed in Alsace. Identified thanks to a print left on a broken window, the man, already known for thefts in his country, indicates “Alsace”.

A five-month prison sentence was handed down by the criminal court of Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin) against a 50-year-old German, tried this Thursday, November 21, 2024, reports L’Alsace . The man, suspected of having burglarized a house, was confused thanks to a handprint found on a window that he had broken.

Registered in the automated fingerprint file

Already under a suspended sentence, he was registered with the FAED (automated fingerprint file) and known for theft in his country, according to our colleagues.

Originally from Bochum, Germany, the man appeared to be homeless. That day, he stole two boom boxes, a piece of furniture, a toiletry bag, a cutting board and siphoned gasoline from a vehicle. He did not appear at the hearing.
