Storm Caetano hit western France on Thursday November 21, 2024.
In total, the Vendée departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis) received 1,773 calls between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Les Sables-d'Olonne, the most affected municipality
Among the 262 interventions carried out by the Vendée emergency services, 23 were carried out in Les Sables-d'Olonne.
It is the commune which was most impacted on the department of Vendée.
Fortunately, no injuries were recorded in Les Sables-d'Olonne, the firefighters only came for material damage.
The “day storm” phenomenon
Compared to other storms which have affected the Vendée in recent years, the Sdis de la Vendée received much more emergency calls.
“It’s probably because the storm was in broad daylight, often it happens at night so people see less of what’s happening,” explains the communications department of Sdis de la Vendée.
