A 19-year-old man was killed during a brawl in Rumilly, Haute-Savoie, Sunday November 17. The main suspect and two other people were arrested and charged.
A man was indicted for “assassination” and “attempted assassination” less than a week after the fatal shooting in Rumilly (Haute-Savoie), announced the Annecy prosecutor's office in a press release, this Friday 22 november.
This one, born in 2004, presented himself “voluntarily” at the Lyon police station this Thursday at 3:45 p.m. During his interrogation, “he admitted to being the author of the shots”, specifies the magistrate. He explained “that he fired while he was hit on the ground to get out of a fight”, specifying that “his intention was to shoot in the air”. Presented to an investigating judge, he was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention this Friday.
On Sunday, November 17, a fight broke out in a square in the center of Rumilly between two groups.
“It appears from initial testimonies that the murder followed a first brawl that occurred” during the night from Saturday to Sunday in Annecy, “for equally unknown reasons,” the prosecution indicated in a press release.
In the confusion, one of the individuals from Annecy, who fell to the ground and was hit by the locals, took out a handgun and fired at least twice, he adds. A young man from Rumilly, aged 18, was hit in the chest. He died on the spot. A second, aged 20, was evacuated to Annecy hospital in absolute emergency after being hit in the head.
No “knowledge” of the presence of a firearm
Earlier in the week, two people who accompanied the alleged shooter on the day of the brawl “spontaneously” presented themselves to investigators on Monday, November 18 and Tuesday, November 19.
Placed in police custody, they “admitted to having been present at the scene of the events”. They also assured that they had no “knowledge of the presence of a firearm”. They were presented to the investigating judge, indicted and placed under judicial supervision this Wednesday, November 20.
An international arrest warrant had been issued by the investigating judge against the main suspect. A man “born in 2004, originally from Ain and very recently arrived in Annecy”. He had been designated as the author of the shots by the witnesses and the two indicted, indicates the Annecy prosecutor's office.
A white march is organized this Sunday, November 24 at 4 p.m. in Rumilly in memory of the young man shot dead in the brawl.
