Haute : a heavy goods vehicle stuck on an icy slope causes a traffic jam on the D 1029 near Morcourt

A traffic hazard caused a major traffic jam on Friday, November 22, on the 1029 departmental road, the -Saint-Quentin axis. According to initial information, the driver of a heavy goods vehicle traveling in the direction of Amiens failed to cross the hill located after the du Sart garden center, blocking the motorists and trucks following him. The road was icy in the undergrowth, making traffic impossible. A recurring problem at this location as soon as it snows or the road is icy.

The road was icy

As other trucks stopped and waited, motorists cautiously turned around. One of them tried to go around the convoy and almost got stuck on the shoulder.

The Amiens-Saint-Quentin axis was cut in both directions, which caused two traffic jams. Departmental road officials arrived on site at 9:30 a.m. to assess the situation and find a solution. A salt spreader arrived to treat the road, which allowed the stuck truck to get out of its unfortunate position shortly before 10 a.m.

The situation then quickly returned to normal.
