The story has been going on for over a year. During the general assembly of the Pyla-sur-Mer Sailing Circle (CVPM), on April 15, 2023, three elected officials from the municipality, Fabien Dufailly, sports assistant, Éric Bernard and Jean-François Bouchonnet presented to the members the club reconstruction project. The idea was to have it paid to a private operator who, in return, to make this investment profitable, would operate a restaurant on the site for twenty or thirty years, via a long lease.

The city also wanted to take advantage of this to regularize a whole bunch of things: the rental of the adjoining land to store boats, an employee who lived there without title or rent, etc. “We had the courage to put our foot down when everyone was escaping on this subject,” explains Patrick Davet, the LR mayor during the municipal council meeting on June 27. Noting that the project has sparked lots of controversy, a petition with more than 13,000 signatures, “from Dunkirk to Hendaye” mocks the mayor, not to mention the multiple changes at the head of the club. In short, not a simple situation.

This Thursday, June 27, the Tester elected officials nevertheless voted for a partnership agreement with the club not for one year, as is customary, but for three years, “a long commitment to trust each other”. “A pleasant convention,” comments Eric Bernard, the elected official who reads the deliberation. Relations are visibly back on track. What the opponent Marc Muret (related to Reconquête) notices, who wants to know why: what is the project?

“We have excellent relations with the club,” confirms Patrick Davet. The file is progressing well. » And he gives some information by reading the CVPM newsletter. “Today we have a global vision of the shared project. We agree to the nearest m². We give ourselves three years. The future is before us. »

What is this project? According to our information, the city will finance the rehabilitation of the CVPM which will also welcome kayakers. And the restaurant? It is planned to install on the central reservation, in place of the catamarans on the front line, within three years, a temporary restaurant for the season, removable, a bit, for example, like the Pereire Beach Club in Arcachon. Here, a private individual will be called upon and the assembly and disassembly of the restaurant will be their responsibility, obviously. Three years to write specifications and then launch calls for tenders.

The blockhouse would remain in place but the toilets, at the entrance to the site, will be demolished (there will be some in the club and others will be rebuilt for the restaurant). In the meantime, for three years, a catering service will exist at the club, for members and staff, without having the right to prepare on site.

“It’s actually not the same project as the one initially imagined,” confides Patrick Davet, “but the idea remains, with the complete rehabilitation of the club and a restaurant. »
