They had demonstrated so as not to “be forgotten by the Games”. The Yvelines firefighters should receive an “Olympic bonus” for their involvement during the Olympic period. The departmental council has just voted on its participation this Friday.
“Despite its financial situation, the department is participating, to the tune of 1 million euros. Subject to payment by the State of its share of the bonus, estimated at 1.3 million euros,” specifies the community. Which recalls that this bonus will be paid to all firefighters, professionals and volunteers who participated in securing the Paris 2024 Games “as well as administrative and technical staff”.
Last spring, a large part of the 1,500 Yvelines firefighters gathered in the streets of Versailles to demand the payment of this bonus, just like the police officers who had just learned that they would benefit from it. “We are given the possibility of receiving one but we are referred to the department which is our payer,” an SPP-PATS unionist then remarked. The president of the departmental council, Pierre Bédier (DVD), indicated that he was not opposed to it on the condition that the State also put in its own pocket.
With the passage of the Olympic flame, four competition sites – Versailles for horse riding, the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome, the Élancourt hill for mountain biking and the Guyancourt national golf course – as well as the passage of the marathon and road cycling races, the Yvelines firefighters were in great demand. For example, the bonuses granted to Paris firefighters vary between 1,600 euros to 1,900 euros.
