The story told by its main actors
Very recently, by taking up information from the newspaper Sud-Ouest, our colleagues from the hunting press rightly echoed the removal of a gigantic wild boar weighing 205 kg on November 11 by the municipal association of ACCA approved hunting in Écurat in Charente-Maritime. Faithful to its objectives of in-depth processing of information, Chassons.com went to meet the protagonists of this fabulous hunting story to be able to provide you with a detailed account.
A company of wild boars spotted in a forest plot
This Monday, November 11 in the morning, Patrice Gauducheau, the president of the ACCA of Écurat, was informed by his pack, Claude Charrier, that a company of wild boars had very probably just settled within the enclosure of the Fragnées woods. . Indeed, the tracker had spotted the feet of several suids, including at least one of large size, which entered this forest plot of around fifty hectares located between the A10 and A837 motorways, designated as a reserve and only huntable for two days. per month. The opportunity was too good and the president therefore summoned his troops, around forty hunters, for noon to thirty.
A company submerged under a high voltage line
Around 2 p.m., after reminding us of the safety instructions and the particularities of the day during the round, Patrice Gauducheau placed his shooters and the hunters designated to ensure the safety of the roads, before launching the start of the hunt. For the occasion, Florent Caillé, administrator of FDC 17 and lieutenant of louveterie, joined the ACCA hunters and was able to testify to the truth of this extraordinary story. The trackers, Claude Charrier and Olivier Saubabère, after having eliminated a first sector on the edge of the A10, then placed their dogs, brave and strong Anglos, near a high voltage line which crosses the wood. It was underneath that the dogs then flushed out the sought-after company, which was lurking among the ferns, brambles and briars.
A very large wild boar thrown
Almost immediately, a first suede was launched by the pack and was taken by a shooter posted as he passed his line. Faced with this first success, Patrice Gauducheau said to himself “we are not stupid”. But the hunter was not going to stop there and asked the trackers to put the dogs back under the line. Once again, a wild boar set off and was also taken by another posted hunter. No matter, our hunters put the dogs back under the line a third time. It was then that after a quick close, an imposing mass started off and was seen by the pickers. “Boar gone, be careful, it’s very big!” » the picketers announced by radio.
A face to face at 5 meters
The animal headed towards the A837 motorway and stumbled against the fence before deciding to go back up along it. This is where Francis Gabriel, 74 years old and a hunter for more than fifty years, was stationed. Francis had authorization to shoot from around ten meters while tracking and had hidden himself in the vegetation to remain invisible if an animal approached the fence. On the radio, our postman heard that the big hunted boar was coming back towards him but he saw nothing. When suddenly, as he slightly poked his head out of the thicket in which he was hidden, he saw an enormous animal rushing towards him about 5 meters away.
A Rottweil Exact caliber 12 less than 5 meters away
Our hunter then shouldered his 12 caliber Beretta superimposed and fired at the sus scropha rushing towards him. In total, Francis told us that he saw the beast for three seconds, no more. But the ball, a Rottweil Exact in 12.70 tucked in at ear level, was good and the wild boar only traveled a few meters to die in a bramble bush. When the dogs arrived, a few moments later, they started to kill. The trackers were then able to realize the extraordinary size of the game taken. It will indeed take six hunters and the reinforcement of a 4×4 to extract the wild boar from the bramble bush.
205 kg at weigh-in
If three other wild boars were still taken by three other shooters during the rest of this anthology hunt, it was obviously Francis Gabriel's wild boar which stirred up the discussions of our hunters while awaiting the verdict of the weighing. 150, 160, 180 kg, everyone had their own prediction. Finally, it was at Serge Bouque, farmer and president of the ACCA near Essars, that the wild boar could be weighed. 208 kg at least 3 kg of metal bar to hang the game, i.e. 205 kg. Our hunters were stunned. Francis Gabriel told us: It was impressive when we came face to face. It happened very quickly, I was very lucky. We extend our congratulations to Francis and the Ecurats hunters for this phenomenal harvest, the fourth largest wild boar harvested in France, and thank them for their warm welcome.
