Hail, gusts of wind, accumulations of rain… Violent storms are expected in Marne, Aube, Ardennes and Haute-Marne, placed on orange alert from 4 p.m. by Météo-France, for this Saturday, June 29 .

The lull was short-lived in Champagne-Ardenne. After summer weather, it’s time for the return of storms. The departments of Aube and Marne are already placed on yellow alert, joined since noon by the Ardennes and at 2 p.m. by Haute-Marne. They will be placed on orange alert at 4 p.m. for the afternoon and evening of Saturday, June 29.

“In the Great East, the storms will be particularly virulent”warns Météo-France. We should expect “very strong” wind gusts of up to 120 kilometers per hour, from the “large hail” and an “intense electrical activity”.

And this in addition to the cumulative rainfall estimated at 40mm in less than an hour and very locally up to 80mm over the entire episode.

After midnight, the storm zone will gradually evacuate to the north-east of the region. But until then, Météo-France estimates that the situation “requires vigilance particularly given the geographical extent and intensity of the predicted phenomena”.

In total, 34 departments will be placed on storm orange alert from 4 p.m., compared to only three at noon.
