Has it been a while since you last attended a WRC round?

It’s true that it’s starting to come back up. My last participation was in Monte-Carlo 2016.

Do you continue to follow what is happening in the WRC?

Of course ! I’m still a fan. If there is one discipline that I watch, it’s rallying. I do it more than anything else.

Do you plan to return to rallying one day?

For pleasure no doubt, but not with a competitive spirit. When I follow a race or when I study the calendar, I tell myself that there are certain events that look very fun to compete in, but I also realize that it represents a lot of effort to prepare for them. Maybe we need to do it with different perspectives, more like an enthusiast who comes and has fun?

Currently, there are 9 manufacturers present in the WEC. What do you think the WRC should do to attract other brands?

It’s a complicated subject. It requires the commitment of several parties and I’m not sure that one single solution will be enough. I think that the problem is not new. When I was racing, there were already these types of questions. Practices change, people like to see different sports and other competitions. I still believe that rallying offers something special. Manufacturers attract manufacturers and currently the interest is in WEC. It’s been going on for a few years in WRC and as a fan, I hope that the situation will improve… but I’m very happy not to have to deal with this type of problem (laughs).
