Several trees were uprooted by the wind on Thursday evening in different communes of Haute-Loire. In the north of the department, in Chomelix, part of a sequoia fell on a car in traffic.
The violent winds caused damage almost everywhere in Haute-Loire. We missed the worst at Chomelix. At 8 p.m., the branch of a sequoia rooted on private property located along the departmental road was torn off by the wind. She came across the RD 1 when a 64-year-old motorist was driving his Citröen C5. The tree fell on his vehicle. The driver was not injured, but shocked by what had just happened. He was taken care of by firefighters and taken to Émile-Roux hospital. The departmental roads service intervened to clear the traffic axis.
Other events linked to bad weather have called upon the police. A telephone pole fell on Chemin des rameaux in Aurec at 8:20 p.m. At 9 p.m., a tree fell on a high-voltage power line, on the road from Aurec to Pont-Salomon, causing a vegetation fire to start. and depriving surrounding residences of electricity. At 10:20 p.m., a tree fell on the RN 102 in Pradelles, on the border with the Ardèche department. The Dir intervened to clear the tracks. During the night, at 1:40 a.m., two trees were reported on the road between Blesle and Lempdes. Shortly before 6 a.m., a tree was reported on the RD 590 in Cronces.
