The first winter episode of the season took place this Wednesday evening in Moselle with snowfall and the occasional appearance of ice. If orange snow-ice vigilance is in progress in 33 departments from the West to the East of France, including the Vosges, the Moselle remains for the moment in yellow alertaccording to Météo-France.
With the CAETANO depression currently moving towards the Grand Est, it is possible that further snowfall will occur this Thursday in the department, particularly in the afternoon. Météo-France is already announcing the fall of a few snowflakes in Metz in the north of the Moselle this Friday morning.
And temperature increase is expected during the weekend with an average of 13-14 degrees forecast in the department this Sunday, which would put an end to this first episode of snow-ice of the season.
“The uncertainties lie in the southern extension of the orange snow-ice warning and depend on the trajectory of this depression. This is why other departments may be placed on orange vigilance during the next vigilance updates,” specifies Météo-France.
The Moselle could therefore possibly go into orange alert depending on the evolution of CAETANO depression. We will keep you informed in the event of an orange alert.
