Émile Soleil disappeared on July 8, 2023 in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet, while he was spending the holidays with his grandparents. He had escaped their vigilance and had vanished. A long search was undertaken to find him. Unfortunately, a few months later, the terrible news broke. The little boy’s skull was found by a walker, definitively confirming his death. As reported by BFMTV, almost a year after the little boy’s disappearance, and three months after the discovery of his bones, François Balique, mayor of Le Vernet, carried out a highly symbolic act. He made Émile’s death official with a death certificate.

An act that makes the sad reality official

If the main purpose of this official act is to formalize the death of a loved one and to begin the organization of the funeral, for example, it does not, however, give the parents the right to recover the bones of the little boy. Bones which, after nine months of investigation, had raised many questions. Was the little boy’s body moved? And why were only his skull and teeth discovered? Why were they more than a kilometer from the grandparents’ house?

Even after the body was found, several questions remain unanswered.
