Météo has placed the Côte-d'Or department on orange snow-ice alert from Thursday November 21 at 11:00 a.m. until Friday November 22 at 12:00 p.m.

This vigilance also concerns the following departments: Aube, Yonne, Haute-, Vosges, Haute-Saône, , Territoire de and Haut-Rhin.

Snowfall is forecast until mid-evening.

3 to 10 cm are expected throughout the day, locally 15 cm on the Côte-d'Or.

Given the snowfall and the risk of icing tonight and tomorrow morning, the prefect of Côte-d'Or prohibits by prefectural decree of 11/21/2024 the circulation of school transport on Friday, November 22 from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m., on all road and motorway networks in the Côte-d' department Gold.

Moreover, a zonal decree of November 20, 2024, restricts the circulation of heavy goods vehicles as follows:

  • vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes used for the transport of people and goods have their maximum authorized speed limited to 70 km/h on the motorway network and the ring road and they are prohibited from overtaking or changing lanes when at least one lane of traffic on the roadway is covered with snow or ice:
    • from Thursday November 21 at 11 a.m. to Friday November 22 at 10 a.m. for Aube, Côte-d'Or, Nièvre and Yonne;
    • from Thursday November 21 at 1 p.m. to Friday November 22 at 10 a.m. for Doubs, Haute-Marne and Haute-Saône;
    • from Thursday November 21 at 3 p.m. to Friday November 22 at 10 a.m. for Haut-Rhin, the Vosges and the Territoire de Belfort.

Advice and recommendations for individuals

  • be careful and vigilant if you absolutely have to travel;
  • prepare your trip and your itinerary. Remember to equip your vehicle with special equipment and protect yourself from the cold;
  • respect the traffic restrictions and diversions put in place;
  • facilitate the passage of road and motorway clearing equipment, in particular by parking your vehicle outside the traffic lanes;
    • overtaking a snow plow or a salt spreader while working is dangerous and prohibited by the highway code:
    • give priority to the machines in intervention;
    • stay in the footsteps of the salt spreader or snow plow, you will benefit from a clear road and you will participate in the essential mixing of the salt to prolong its action
  • protect yourself from falls and protect others by clearing the snow and salting the sidewalks in front of your home, while avoiding obstructing water drains.
