For the first time in its history, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris will organize its first annual ball, on July 6, 2025. A tribute to fashion to celebrate the centenary of the exhibition, like the MET Gala in New York.
The MET Gala in Paris. Cradle of fashion, Paris will host a ball like the MET Gala in New York. Couture and the art of living will be honored by the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris on July 6, to celebrate the institution's 100th anniversary.
The museum's collection is estimated at more than a million and a half works, ranging from fashion and textile pieces to prestigious furniture dating from the Middle Ages to the present day. Located rue de Rivoli, in the 1ᵉʳ arrondissement of Paris, the museum welcomes nearly a million visitors each year.
A celebration of talent
This gala will celebrate the collections, but also all the young designers and artisans of the museum. Chosen as head of artistic direction, director Sofia Coppola spoke about this new role: “It is an honor for me to be the artistic director of the summer ball at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. This city, which I consider my second home, touches me deeply, and celebrating such a symbol of French culture is a particular source of inspiration.
The president of the honorary committee, Jean-Victor Meyers also spoke about this choice: “She will be able to bring to life this event designed to celebrate creativity in all its forms, support the museum and the schools that train designers and the creators of tomorrow.
Furthermore, this ball mixing fashion, art and design will launch haute couture week, a long-awaited event for the second annual meeting of the fashion season.
