Two young men entered this establishment in downtown Nîmes on Tuesday around 4 p.m. to place sports bets on a match. There are only a few minutes left to close the bets. The tobacconist records 700 euros worth of games. Except that the two men, when paying, had a faulty bank card. They cannot pay the tickets and promise to come back to pay the amount to the merchant. What they want to do after the match, especially since they won. They come to claim their winnings. A procedure already used twice in Nîmes in recent days, the “crooks” only come back if they are winners and leave the slate to the tobacconist if the games are losing.
Instead of recovering large sums this Tuesday, November 19, the Municipal Police intervened and arrested the two accomplices. The latter were handed over to National Police investigators. Two young people, aged 22 and 23, who have since been released and who will appear in a few months before the Nîmes criminal court for fraud.
