Art, nature and society

The island of Camargue, between Rhône and the Mediterranean, has an exceptional environment, the result of the meeting of fresh water with salt water and the human activities that have developed there. The Camargue Regional Natural Park aims to protect and bring to life this natural, cultural and human heritage to build the future of this territory.

A museum
It is at the Mas du Pont de Rousty that the Camargue Regional Natural Park has installed the Camargue Museum, a showcase of the territory. Recently renovated in a spirit of sustainable development, the sheepfold, under its original framework, offers an immersion in the Camargue of yesterday and today with the permanent exhibition Le fil de l’eau, le fil du temps .
Historical pieces, interactive, fun, sound installations, videos and contemporary works of art invite young and old to surf between past, present and future, far from the clichés conveyed.

A path
The experience can be extended thanks to the developed path which runs along the canal and the rice fields to the marsh, passing by the herdsman’s cabin.

A cultural program
All year round, shows, screenings, debate meetings and thematic visits to the museum or to the Park offer a fun and different approach to Camargue culture.

Artistic journeys
At the start of the trail, a work by Tadashi Kawamata, Horizons, invites you to rise to meditate on the issues of water in the Rhône delta.
On the territory of the Park, the Water Trails route invites you to get off the beaten track to see the Camargue differently with the installations of Tadashi Kawamata, Décise, on the banks of the Grand Rhône in Arles and Stopover at the pumping station of the Great Montlong.
