The prefecture has already recorded ten minor accidents at 10:15 a.m. this Thursday, November 21, 2024. At the same time, thirty firefighters, 60 gendarmes and a crew from the national police were engaged in interventions.

Traffic conditions are deteriorating across the entire network and becoming delicate or even difficult locally. On the RN12, on the Alençon – Mortagne and Alençon – La Lacelle axis, they are already classified as difficult. At this stage, however, traffic remains possible on all routes.
The movement of heavy goods vehicles prohibited until further notice
Due to these weather conditions, the prefect of Orne has issued several orders since yesterday: the circulation of school transport and heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes is prohibited on the entire road network of the department until new order. Exceptions remain for certain transports (tow trucks, milk collection, transport of live animals, etc.).
Storage areas are open to accommodate heavy goods vehicles. At the same time, due to the temperatures forecast for the coming days, the prefect has triggered the Severe Cold Plan. Daily patrols will be carried out and additional emergency accommodation places will be opened.
