PHOTOS – Snow has started to fall on and Orne

THE first flakes began to fall around 6 a.m. in the southwest of the department and in the west of Orne. The Virois and Flérien bocage sectors are concerned, with 1.5 hours ahead of forecast weather models. The snow is starting to stick to the ground in the Villers-Bocage, Falaise and Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives sectors. It falls on , Bayeux and Pont-l'Évêque.

In terms of accumulations, it could fall by 3 to 5cm snow in Caen, up to 10 cm on the hills. Snow is expected to fall until 4:30 or 5 p.m.

In Calvados, the saleuses departmental agencies of Villers Bocage and Falaise began treating the roads of the departmental road network since 6 a.m. this morning. The departmental agencies of Caen and Saint-Pierre-en-Auge are also on alert.

In Orne, the circulation of heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes is prohibited on the entire departmental road network. They are authorized to travel on highways, with a speed limit of 20 km/h.

In Calvados, on theA84the circulation of heavy goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes has been prohibited since 6 a.m. this morning. “Ten snow removal machines have been operating since this morning, and the movement of heavy goods vehicles is prohibited to prevent them from crossing the road.“, specifies Benoit Hauchecorne, from the North West Roads Directorate (DIRNO).

THE school transport are at a standstill. No Nomad coaches are circulating in Calvados and Orne. In the Caen metropolitan area, public transport traffic could be disrupted.

Be careful Friday morning, because the temperatures will be cold and the floors wet, leading to a risk of black ice. A clear mild spell is expected very quickly with temperatures of 13°C forecast next Sunday.
