Is happiness a sum of small pleasures?

Is happiness a sum of small pleasures?
Is happiness a sum of small pleasures?

Launch: Thibaut, are you wondering if the little pleasures we are talking about this morning can make us happy?

Yes Ali, the little pleasures of this morning but also all those that we have shared with listeners, throughout the year in opening this Friday show. We have shared the pleasures of reading, cinema, theatre, music, podcasts, but also the pleasures of walking in the forest, of meetings, of family or friendly life, of children growing up, of friends that we meet again, the pleasures of good weather, of good wine, of chocolate and even remember, of electric bikes… this infinite list of pleasures of ordinary life has enchanted our lives and we have shared them in the hope that they can also enchant lives other than ours. But the philosopher and his big clogs wonder if they can make us happy. If the happiness that we are all running after is an addition, a succession, a multiplication of these little pleasures. Sure, they entertain us, they are enjoyable, they connect us to each other sometimes by finding common ground, but are they enough to heal our lives from unhappiness, sorrows, betrayals and the tragic prospect of death to come? Are they enough to make us happy?

Relaunch: in fact the question arises…
