Thursday June 27, 2024, it was very hot in Haute-Garonne, but some people broke out in a cold sweat.

This is the case of a farmer, northwest of Toulouse. Shortly after 8 p.m., he called for the firefighters to act quickly.

Part of the harvest goes up in smoke

A fire broke out while he was in the middle of harvesting in the commune of Daux. “A violent harvest fire” as it was described by the firefighters in the evening, which affected 0.6 hectares of surface area. That is about the size of a football pitch.

Fifteen firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the fire using two hoses.

“Many calls” recorded

“Given the plume of smoke, this intervention generated numerous calls to the operations room,” the firefighters reported.

The harvest fire is unfortunately a great classic of the harvest period which started in Haute-Garonne.
