Tour du Pays Roannais, a 35th edition for the strong

Like every year, it is one of the notable events on the French cycling calendar which takes place in Roanne at the start of summer, orchestrated by the CR4C Roanne.

Who will succeed Frédéric Talpin, winner of the 2023 edition of the Tour du Pays Roannais? We will know after the finish of the third stage, on the afternoon of Sunday June 30. Everything will start in the same way as last year, where the criterion of the event was successfully relocated to the Mulsant district of Roanne. “We are on the same format as last year with an identical Friday, a copy and paste on the Critérium in Mulsant. The TPR will compete over three stages with quite a few difficulties” explains Franck Cherpin, the head of the organization. After the Critérium, which will count for the general classification, the 22 teams entered will cover 144 kilometers on Saturday over four loops from the village of Sevelinges. Finally, the entire third stage is scheduled around the Coteau, with a departure at noon for a 149 kilometer race. The Tour du Pays Roannais is an elite race renowned for being tough and difficult.

Recognized CR4C Roanne know-how

The winner can subsequently legitimately hope to embrace the hope of a career at the highest level, in any case this is what the various winners have shown in history. “In principle, this is not a race for sprinters. We are renowned for being for the strong. For example, on Saturday in Sevelinges, there will not be a single piece of food” continues Franck Cherpin. A 35th edition which promises to be brilliant with an organization which has not weakened over the years. The CR4C Roanne has been able to renew itself and above all fight to maintain the event, despite increasing costs. “The expertise of the CR4C Roanne Organization Center is recognized. Now, it is still a source of pride to see that the work of the elders continues. It’s more and more difficult to maintain this type of stage race at the moment” concludes Franck Cherpin. Like every year, the public is expected at the side of the roads to encourage the runners on June 28, 29 and 30.
