JazzMDA presents BISO 6tet

Congolese buffet & concert

Friday June 28, 2024 at 8:30 p.m.

  • Chacha ANGELA: Drums / vocals / Balafon
  • Séfoudi: Age
  • Stéphane LOPEZ: Bass
  • Nils FRECHILLA : Guitare
  • Gumiso MUSENDO: Chant
  • Samël MIELENANDI: Piano, synthesizers

BISO is the project of Chacha, a drummer, who learned the ropes at the age of 5 on percussion in Kinshasa, followed in the footsteps of his mother and sister, the singers in the family, and his brother, also a drummer, whom he accompanied on the cowbell, a staple of Latin rhythms.

He sings in Lingala, his native language, and also plays the balafon, a traditional instrument made from wooden slats and gourds. He tells us about his culture, fraternity and the music that he considers to be the wealth of his ancestors. It emphasizes the promotion of the crossbreeding between the music of Africa and that of the West. He knew how to create a unique blend and a contemporary sound.

In fact, it’s the ideal cocktail, with a little Congolese rumba, a hint of Jazz, two bars of Afro-beat, all sweetened with languages and words as intoxicating as possible!
