The rare association between the uilleann pipes (or Irish bagpipes) and the Celtic harp leads the two young musicians to seek harmony and a balanced dialogue between their two instruments.

“Heritage dimension of music”

“We adaptconfide Quentin West. There may be improvised elements . » He also evokes « the heritage dimension of music ». This is how they can offer a recital oscillating between elaborate arrangements and the simplicity specific to traditional music.

Graduated with a degree in music and musicology at the University of Paris-IV-Sorbonne, Quentin Vestur moved to Quimper to obtain, in 2012, the diploma in musical studies “traditional music” which he prepared in the class by Dominig Bouchaud, a pioneering harpist recognized in Brittany.

At the same time, in 2011, he entered the Brittany-Pays de la Loire higher education center for live performance in Rennes, where he obtained a national higher professional diploma as a musician in traditional music, and a state diploma in music teaching. He also studied in Ireland at the prestigious MA Irish Traditional Music.

Meeting in Rennes

For his part, Glenn Gouthe, after classical music, moved towards Irish and Breton music. He learned uillleann pipes with Emmanuel Lemare and won a prize at the Rennes Conservatory in 2012. A teacher of Breton in college, he is undertaking advanced research on Breton language and music as part of a doctorate at the University of Rennes 2.

« We met in 2011, when we were students in Rennes. We know Quimperlé, because we played with the singer Yann-Fañch Kemener », underlines Quentin Vestur, who teaches Celtic harp in the conservatories of Quimperlé community and Fouesnant.

This concert is organized by the Kemperle History and Heritage association, as part of the promotion of the heritage of the Abbey of Sainte-Croix.
