BIOLYMPICS: the free exhibition at the Auxerre Museum is extended

All summer and beyond, discover the astonishing powers and surprising adaptations of “biochampions” in this exhibition at the Museum of Auxerre which began on April 7, and which is extended until the fall.

Several thousand visitors have already come to see the stuffed animals and plants on display at the Auxerre Museum. Building on its success, the Museum has decided to extend this free exhibition until November 3. An exhibition that reveals the unsuspected capacities of sometimes little-known living species.

Nature, mirror of Olympism

Nature is populated by true athletes whose exploits evoke those of the human sporting world. Speed, endurance, strength… so many impressive abilities developed by these champions in the heart of a natural competition.

To reflect this reality, the exhibition BIOLYMPICS is structured in several parts with four different rooms. Each of these rooms has a name related to the events and the sporting world: Faster, Longer, Deeper – Further, Higher, Stronger! – Adapt to your terrain – Competition and collaboration.

Your France Bleu Auxerre player visited two of these rooms, to meet the head of the museum’s public service, Philippe Tabuteau, to give you a taste of the exhibition. He therefore found himself in the first room where sprinter Usain Bolt and swimmer Caeleb Dressel are analogized with animals that have developed incredible locomotor abilities allowing them to reach dizzying speeds.

An educational outing idea

If you are looking for a free and enriching outing idea for your children, this exhibition is undoubtedly an essential choice. In addition, it will be an opportunity to discover the programming held around this exhibition, with visits and workshops for young and old.

Finally, your children, and adults, will also be able to relax in the reading corner with books selected and made available by the librarians of the Jacques-Lacarrière municipal library.

The BIOLYMPIQUES exhibition is extended until November 3.
