In order to develop small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Senegal has approached German expertise. It is with this in mind that a strong German delegation stayed in Senegal.
Received by Serigne Gueye DIOP, Minister of Industry and Trade, representatives of German SMEs outlined the many avenues for collaboration. According to the minister, after a mission to Germany a month ago, the two parties agreed to meet again to continue discussions.
« The Association of German SMEs is a very large association with 900,000 SMEs. So this visit comes at just the right time. It allows us to discuss the possibilities of collaboration between Adepme, with Giz and the prospects with much greater German investments in strategic areas such as manufacturing, textiles and automobiles. Moreover, Mercedes Benz for example will set up in Senegal for the construction of cold rooms in particular“, supported Serigne Guèye Diop.
For his part, Andréas JAHN, head of the German delegation and President of the association of German SMEs, first indicated that the President of the Republic of Senegal is one of the guests at the SME fair which is being held in Germany and which will welcome nearly 8,000 German SMEs. For him, “ the opportunities for German SMEs here in Senegal are enormous. And we hope that Senegalese SMEs will also explore the German market. This dynamic will open a new chapter in German-Senegalese relations« .
