The wind will blow very strongly this Thursday, November 21 in New Aquitaine. Météo France has launched an orange alert for violent winds in the departments of Gironde, Charente, Vienne and Deux-Sèvres. In Limousin, the departments of Creuse and Haute-Vienne are also concerned.
In question, the passage of the winter storm Caetano which will cross France from west to east, a phenomenon associated with violent gusts.
We expect gusts generally between 100 and 120 km/h on the coast of the departments placed on orange alert.
“Inland, gusts are generally around or exceed 100 km/h in the departments on orange alert, with peaks around 110 km/h more occasionally.“, continues Météo France.

Among the consequences to be expected this Thursday, interruptions “preventive” rail traffic on regional lines. An organized “traffic stop,”to avoid engaging trains in the middle of disruptions, at the risk of them being blocked with passengers on board”specifies the SNCF network.
As of 10 a.m. this Thursday, thirteen lines are affected by this “traffic stop”, detailed in the post that the railway company posted on X.
On the Bordeaux-Arcachon, Bordeaux-Dax and Vierzon-Limoges lines, a return to normal is planned from 7 p.m. on November 21.
