Geneva, international capital of law thanks to a new association

A new international association was born last night in Geneva. GILA, for Geneva International Legal Association, was launched at the initiative of the Geneva Bar Association to make the city of Calvin a reference in law and legal services. Objective, to shine at the international level.

Promoting the legal expertise of Geneva is the major objective of this new association which brings together lawyers, jurists and magistrates. GILA was officially born in the Alabama hall, quite a symbol. “The idea is to show that the law, in addition to settling disputes, is a factor of social development, but also economic,” explains Sandrine Giroud, president of GILA.

To make Geneva the international capital of law and legal services, reflecting the financial reputation of the city of Calvin. “This association recalls the central role of Geneva in the resolution of disputes” argues Maître Lionel Halpérin.

Geneva can resolve conflicts through law

Geneva and by extension, Switzerland, have an image to defend and promote at the international level, particularly in the resolution of conflicts where the line between politics and law is fine.

“In Ukraine, Switzerland is trying to do its best, but today, companies are being made worse off by the conflict, Swiss law and Geneva legal professionals can be called upon,” explains Sandrine Giroud.

GILA wants to make Geneva the international capital of law and dispute resolution. It will have to compete with other well-established international initiatives, from London to Paris via Singapore, Geneva will have to find a place for itself.
