This November 19, Nicolas Lacroix, president of the Departmental Council of Haute-Marne met Annie Genevard, Minister of Agriculture to discuss all current issues.
The meeting took place on Rue de Varenne, in Paris on November 19. The interview focused on all the current demands of the agricultural world. Bearer of many messages, Nicolas Lacroix invited the Minister to come to Haute-Marne to present the sectors of excellence there and discuss the difficulties of farmers.
Many subjects were at the heart of the discussions between Nicolas Lacroix and Annie Genevard. Firstly: the negotiation of the Mercosur free trade agreements which began at the beginning of the 2000s and “which no longer correspond to the geopolitical situation of the world”estimates Nicolas Lacroix. The questions were asked: “why bring in products that do not correspond to national standards and therefore make consumers eat what the France farm does not have the right to produce? Why would imported agricultural products serve as negotiating margin to be able to export German cars? »
Another subject: bluetongue which causes significant losses to breeders with increased animal mortality, a drop in milk and meat production and long-term damage to herds such as fertility problems.
Overadministration of agriculture
Nicolas Lacroix returned to the unilateral decision of the Lactalis dairy group to reduce the collection of cow's milk by 450 million liters out of the 5.1 billion collected annually in France. Among the 300 French breeders who find themselves without a dairy, 17 farms are located in Haute-Marne. Some have invested. Others have installed a young person and they find themselves obliged to reduce their turnover and their profitability or to find another dairy with the risk of destabilizing the entire sector. Nicolas Lacroix also discussed the methods of the Savencia dairy in determining the price of milk in the months to come. Finally, recurring topics in the agricultural world returned to the debates: the overadministration of agriculture, national overtranspositions, the non-renewal of generations, etc.
