Véronique Bugeaud becomes the general director of the Orchester philharmonique du Québec (OPQ). Ms. Bugeaud has notably worked over the last seven years with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra as head of development. She is recognized for her expertise in business development and partnerships.

“It is with great motivation and pride that I agree to join this wonderful institution,” said Ms. Bugeaud. “I am eager to get to work with very talented musicians, with a solid and dedicated administrative team, as well as with Mr. Alexandre Da Costa of course, our artistic director, conductor and soloist who never ceases to surprise and amaze us with both his virtuosity and his great creativity!”

Making classical music accessible is for her “the driving force” of her professional actions.

During her time at the OSM, Ms. Bugeaud “substantially increased sponsorship revenues and actively participated in the institution’s outreach strategy,” underlines the OPQ.

Marketwired, as well as experiences as a speaker and member of various boards of directors, including at DynamO Théâtre, are part of her career.

“Our orchestra having now reached fourth place among Quebec orchestras and, I am proud to point out, first place in terms of audience growth, Ms. Bugeaud is the ideal person, given her experience in the artistic community, to allow us to go even further,” mentions Jean-Jacques Rainville, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

“It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome Ms. Bugeaud,” said artistic director and conductor Alexandre Da Costa. Her knowledge of the complexity of artistic creation, her experience in philanthropic and sponsorship environments, as well as the cultural environment in which she evolved, inspire me for an exceptional collaboration.”

Let us recall that the former general manager, Jean-Marc Léveillé, left his position at the beginning of June. He said he rushed his departure, planned for July, because of the “environment” within the OPQ. In an interview, he mentioned differences of opinion with Mr. Da Costa, “on contractual compliance, on compliance with deadlines, he testified. When deadlines are not met, there are significant consequences and financial impacts. And it is the DG who is responsible.”
